As you might have guessed, the Partnership puts a high value on community involvement and volunteerism. For that reason, we are so excited to be hiring a Community Engagement Coordinator, sponsored by the AmeriCorps VISTA program!
The Community Engagement Coordinator VISTA will build the capacity of Fairmont Community Development Partnership by developing and implementing a community needs assessment, supporting internal organizational capacity growth, volunteer management and recruitment systems, and disaster preparedness resources for low-income families in Fairmont/Marion County, West Virginia.
The national VISTA program was established in 1965 and has since supported over 200,000 members in the fight against poverty by assisting local non-profits increase internal capacity and execute projects both big and small. Members participate in capacity building activities that range from fundraising to research to volunteer recruitment. Members serve in an office setting, allowing them to gain experience, expand their network and develop important leadership skills which prepare them for a continued life of service in the public, private or nonprofit sector.
